“Hey, that swordsmanship you did back there… you were pretty good.”
The way Sam had picked up the sword made it crystal clear that he wasn't some ordinary old miner. Nick grew more cautious as they were walking towards their Inn. He complimented Sam casually but in reality, he was in total shock. He had now confirmed that all of the stories about being a miner were nothing but lies.
“Oh, thank you very much, I appreciate that.”
“Hehe!” (This guy…he's bad news...he may try to hide it but he's definitely hiding something. I HAVE to figure out his identity)
After exploring the town for a bit, they arrived near the Inn in the evening. But instead of going inside, Sam went past it and entered a dark valley. Nick couldn't figure out what was Sam's intention-
“By the way, uh....didn't we just leave the Inn behind? I thought we were supposed to-”
-He halted suddenly on a cross road. Gritting his teeth and pulling his sword, he looked at Nick with a serious face. Nick, feeling a malicious killing intent, instinctively jumped back and pulled out his daggers to defend himself. Then Sam raised 2 fingers of his right hand and pointed towards Nick's right. And then, he pulled 3 fingers and pointed towards Nick's left.
“Wait wh- ”
"aaarRGHHHH!! "
5 guys, wearing robes, mask and holding sharp knives, screamed and came dashing towards Nick and Sam. Nick's eyes grew larger as he took a deep and quick breath in and prepared himself for the fight.
"Take those 2 on your right, I'll take the other 3."
Saying this, Sam bolted towards those unknown guys and engaged in battle. He hit one of them with his sword's handle on the head and kicked the other two in their guts with inhuman strength. One fainted as soon as he got hit by the handle and the other two were unable to stand on their feet.
Meanwhile, Nick was able to neutralize one guy but the last guy grabbed Nick's arms and tossed him over towards the side. Probably, no, it was definitely because he still hadn't recovered from his injuries. Sam charged towards the last guy and hit his lower jawline with such a barbaric force that it kicked the soul out of him.
Quickly clearing any evidence, Sam carried Nick on his back and headed towards the Inn to decrease their notoriety.
...........
"Aaah!!"
It was 8 o’clock in the evening. Screaming as he had come to his senses, he woke up and quickly got out from his bed.
"Huh..? Yo- You're finally awake! EVERYONE, HE'S AWAKE!"
Saying these words, a girl in maid uniform dashed out of of the room. His vision was still blurred, so he couldn't recognize the girl. After about a minute or two, Sam and River charged through the door to check out Nick's condition-
"The dead Nick returned from his afterlife, waaaaghhh!!"
"Idiot, I never died in the first place...."
-The 18 year old River was quite matured but in times like these, his childish behavior would always kick in. Nick saw Sam beside River giving him relieved smile. Then suddenly, the girl in maid uniform with blonde hair, blue eyes and thin lips gently pushed Sam and sat beside Nick.
"You know....you should really take care of yourself."
"I'll keep that in mind."
Tears welled up in her eyes. She sobbed loudly as she hugged Nick tightly between her arms. Being left completely speechless, the others didn't say anything for a whole minute and the room grew silent.
"........."
"........."
"By the way, who're you?"
"EEK..!!??"
Everybody in the room broke out an uncontrollable laugh. Crossing his arms over his stomach and trying his best to stop laughing, River said,
"The Innkeeper's daughter saved your life TWICE and ya don't even know her name? How can ya be so ignorant?? Ahahaha!!"
"What..? She's the Innkeeper's daughter...?"
While pouting and closing her eyes, the girl in maid uniform puffed her cheeks and-
"I'm sure you must have your reasons! I am Lena Foster, daughter of the Innkeeper, Nyla Foster! It's a pleasure to meet you! HMPHH!"
-introduced herself while quickly moving her head towards the right as if she was teased.
"Oh, um, I am very grateful to you for saving my life, and not once but twice. I'll make sure to repay it later."
"Ah! You've already repaid enough with what you did earlier this morning. And above all, you're our guest, so please don't mind it, really."
"Thank you. And Sam, we've got something to discuss."
"........."
